NSW Land Registry Services (NSW LRS) has today (3 September 2019) published two new resources to assist customers who prepare and lodge strata plans in NSW – the Strata Plan Reference Guide and the Strata Plan Preparation Guide.
The Strata Plan Preparation Guide provides a general summary and guide to preparing strata plans for lodgment with NSW LRS. It updates and replaces the Strata Plan Fast Facts.
The Strata Plan Reference Guide is a detailed central resource that assists lodging parties to understand the relevant acts and sections, regulations, policies and practices that guide NSW LRS plan examiners in their examination of lodged strata plans.

Working with customers and industry to reduce plan requisitions
The Strata Plan Reference Guide is part of a joint initiative between NSW LRS, the Office of the Registrar General, the Surveyor General, and the surveying profession to address the high number of plans being requisitioned.
In June 2019, 90% of strata plans were requisitioned due to errors in the administration sheets or the plans themselves. Resources such as these strata plan guides aim to reduce strata plan requisitions and the timeframe from plan lodgment to registration for surveyors and lodging parties and their clients.
NSW LRS consulted with surveyors and representatives of the Registrar General and Surveyor General as part of the development of these strata plan resources. We thank these stakeholders for their valuable contribution to this initiative.
The launch of the Strata Plan Reference Guide follows the success of the Deposited Plan Reference Guide, which was launched in July 2018 and was welcomed by surveyors and lodging parties. Customers can find these guides online at: www.nswlrs.com.au/Help/Guides-and-Templates
