Removal of Text Height Layering Requirement
In May 2022, NSW LRS requested participation from the profession to test the effectiveness of CAD layers as part of the ‘beta release’ which ensures the quality of the new Translator Tool.
NSW LRS would like to extend a thank you to everyone who has contributed to and provided feedback for the Digital Plan CAD Translator and the Standard Layering Requirements. Your input allowed for a successful pilot launch of the Translator.
After learning from your experience during the pilot launch and the 2022 ACS Roadshow, we have made improvements including the removal of text heights from the Standard Layering Requirements. This enhancement will save you time when creating the files. There have been a few minor updates to the requirements however, the layers (and their names) remain unchanged. The original template file (.dwt) provided is still the same but the PDF file has been updated to reflect these updates.
The ‘beta’ testing will continue over the coming months so if you would like to be a part of shaping the future of digital plans, our team are continuing to collate and implement changes based upon your feedback and recommendations.
To be involved, please send your CAD File to NSW LRS following the steps below:
- Manipulate a CAD file (.dwg) of your choice as per the NSW standard layering requirements, including layer names
- Please send this file to DigitalPlans@nswlrs.com.au. Once the file is received, NSW LRS will run the translation and provide feedback on how the file translated.
- Provide feedback on the practical application of the layers and any other comments you may have.

The Deposited Plan CAD Layers can be found here, along with further information on the process and functionality of the Digital Plan CAD Translator.
The NSW LRS team are looking forward to receiving your file(s) and hearing from you.
