GRESB is an international benchmark for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) management and performance in real estate and infrastructure investments.
In 2023 NSW LRS has again placed first in its specialised industry class (Data Infrastructure: Other) successfully increasing its score to 99 out of a possible 100 (up 3 points vs. 2022). This score places NSW LRS 3rd in Oceania in its specialised industry class, 25th out of 681 participating assets globally, and 23rd amongst global private sector entities.
The NSW LRS team has proudly delivered projects that improve performance in respect to our sustainability, governance, wellbeing, diversity and reconciliation commitments for our staff, customers and the broader NSW community. Many of our ESG-specific initiatives and projects being implemented or completed during FY23 have directly contributed to our improved score and industry peer group leadership. These projects include:
- Implementation of NSW LRS’ Net Zero Business Plan objectives, facilitating further reductions in our operational emissions. We continue to source 100% of our tenancy electricity from renewable sources, realising a 59% reduction in scope 1 +2 GHG emissions vs. our 2021 baseline.
- Launch and implementation of NSW LRS’ inaugural Diversity & Inclusion (DIBE) Strategy, which has directly contributed to an increase in our female representation amongst senior managers to 47% (up 10% vs. FY22).
- Undertaking a rigorous Climate Scenario Analysis using a recognised climate scenario framework (Network for Greening the Financial System) which has provided insights into the effects of climate related impacts for our primary products and services.
- Undertaking a NABERS Energy Rating for our tenancy and receiving a 6-Star rating.
- Strong engagement with our community through social initiatives and corporate partnerships. NSW LRS implemented its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), delivering key reconciliation-focused initiatives, and continued to support our partners at Homes for Homes to end homelessness in Australia.
- Continued focus toward the health and wellbeing of our people, implementing a dedicated wellbeing initiative that provides our people with access to professional counselling support at our Sydney office location.
The NSW LRS Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Program, and Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging & Equity (DIBE) Strategy guide the organisation to operate sustainably and responsibly for our customers, stakeholders, employees, investors, the environment, our community and the property industry.
At NSW LRS, we believe that to be successful we must actively support the people and communities around us. That's why we are committed to supporting and engaging with our people and communities in respectful, sustainable, and meaningful ways.
