The SSIR 2024 is a remake of the 2017 regulation of the same name. SSIR 2024 will repeal the 2017 regulation upon the commencement date of 1 March 2025. The SSIR 2024 is structured differently to the 2017 regulation and introduces new requirements for measurement equipment and methods, accuracy tolerances and measurement checks, consent certificates and the information required on a survey plan. 
 

Lodgment of plans under SSIR 2024 made easier with NSW LRS Connect

NSW LRS has updated the NSW LRS Connect workspace to allow the creation of Digital Forms and lodgments to be made under SSIR 2024. NSW LRS Connect users will be required to select the regulation their plan will adopt when creating a workspace. Once selected, the Digital Forms will automatically reflect the requirements, and the correct Survey Certification of the regulation selected will be applied.
 

Deposited Plan Reference Guide, lodgment forms and checklist ready for SSIR 2024

To prepare for this change, NSW LRS have updated several of our resources, now available on the NSW LRS website:

• Deposited Plan Reference Guide - SSIR 2024: A revised Deposited Plan Reference Guide - SSIR 2024 is now available in our Reference Guides, to assist lodging parties and surveyors understand the relevant acts, regulations and sections used in the examination of plans and to reduce common lodgment errors and requisitions.
• Lodgment Checklist: All survey plans must be accompanied by a Lodgment Checklist. A revised Deposited Plans Lodgment Checklist (SSIR 2024) includes an instrument schedule as per section 61(3), and is available in our Templates and Checklists. 

 

Savings and transition of the repealed regulation

Surveys completed after the commencement of SSIR 2024 and before 1 January 2026, and in line with the 2017 Regulation as it was before being repealed, are considered compliant with SSIR 2024.
 

Updates to guidelines and directions

Customers can explore Lodging with NSW LRS and NSW LRS Help Hub for further information on how to lodge with NSW LRS.
The Registrar General’s Guidelines have been updated to reflect the commencement of SSIR 2024 and assist lodging parties to prepare plans for lodgment in accordance with Repeal and Savings of relevant legislation and their associated regulations.
The Surveyor-General’s Directions relevant to SSIR 2024 can be found on the Surveyor General’s website.
