The NSW Government has announced the impending gazettal of changes to the Lodgment Rules that will require all plans to be electronically lodged through NSW LRS Connect from 1 July 2025.
Transitioning to 100% online plan lodgment and re-lodgment will result in the removal of all paper submissions to enhance efficiency of registration and further streamline the online process. Given most users are already utilising online lodgment in NSW LRS Connect, we expect this change will have minimal impact. However, for those customers who have not yet transitioned to online plan lodgment, NSW LRS would like to make the transition as easy as possible. See ‘Available support’ below.
We advise customers to keep an eye out for further announcements from NSW LRS and the Office of the Registrar General (ORG) in the coming weeks for more information regarding this change and the publishing of the revised Lodgment Rules. In the interim, the information below may be useful.
What’s next? About the reforms for 100% online plan lodgment
- From 1 July 2025, all plans must have a pre-allocated plan number, and all plan documents must be lodged and re-lodged via the NSW LRS Connect workspace.
- Use of the NSW LRS Connect Digital Form Builder will remain optional. NSW LRS and the ORG are working with industry to enhance this service and encourage its use to ensure quality lodgments and assist in minimising requisitions.
- Any users who seek to lodge plans through the Lodgment Office prior to this change being implemented must do so before 1 July 2025. After this time, no paper lodgments will be accepted.
- Surveyors are advised that in cases where you have provided a customer with a “paper” plan for them to lodge themselves manually, after 1 July 2025, these will also need to be scanned and lodged via an NSW LRS Connect workspace.
Further communications and details regarding these changes will be circulated by the ORG and NSW LRS in the coming weeks to help support all customers through this transition to 100% electronic lodgment.
